Chicago St Patrick's Day Parade Information

Little over a month and the 130th Corps of Cadets will be marching in the Annual Chicago St Patrick's Day Parade.  For those of you who have not participated in the past this really is one of the highlights of the year and an event not to be missed.  The larger and louder the crowd the better.  (I've already ordered my green scarf and gloves... how about you?)

SJNMA Alumni Office organizes for alumni, current families / friends of the Academy a special gathering place and rides to a pre-determined spot to view the parade.   The cadets are bused from SJNMA early Saturday Morning ( March 15th this year) via coach buses to Plumber's Hall in Chicago.  It has a huge hall that we set up to meet at, see the boys before they march and then join them back at Plumber's Hall after the parade to warm up, enjoy a catered lunch (small fee per person) and spend some more time with the cadets before they head back to SJNMA.

WHO PARTICIPATES:
All cadets are required to participate.  This weekend will be a closed weekend (no leaves approved) and they must stay at school (day cadets) the night before (Friday, Mar 14th),  travel with the Corps to and from the parade.  No cadets may be picked up / signed out from the parade/plumber's hall.  They must return back to school with the bus.   If you would like to pick up your cadet back at SJNMA after the buses return you can make that arrangement with the RFO.

HOW TO SIGN UP:
Here is how to register to participate.  There is no limit but advanced reservations are STRONGLY encouraged/recommended so that we have enough buses to transport the families/alumni to and from the parade areas.

Here is the link to register and pre-pay for the lunch.

You do not have to take the buses from Plumber's Hall HOWEVER  it is strongly recommended for ease of logistics to start with the group at Plumber's Hall.  But if you prefer to just meet us we will be along Columbus Drive in front on Petrillo Music Shell on the lake side of the street facing the city .  It is very difficult to cross the street once the barricades are set up.... you may see us across the way but they may not let you come across.  They are very strict about crowd control.  Also,  If you plan to come back on the bus to Plumber's Hall it is important to let us know so that we can account for your seat and get you your bus boarding pass.

Plumber's Hall - Old Union HQ's Plenty of Parking (free) very easy in and out of the city from this location.
