Families Weekend is Here!!!

Wow...Spring Families Weekend is already here....seems like the last formal parade was just weeks ago but it has actually been over 223 days ago!  (But who's counting).

We've told you about the golf outing, Dr. Reichert's talk in the Chapel, Parent Teacher Conferences and Saturday's Excalibur but I wanted to focus this last Parents Club blog before the weekend starts on the Sunday Events!

Many of our cadets will receive well deserved awards and promotions and accolades on Sunday.
Even if you did not participate in any of the other days of the weekend I would strongly encourage you to be a part of the Sunday activities.  Here are the events.

We are all invited to attend Sunday Morning Chapel (830-945 am) services with our cadets  that will be immediately followed (in the Chapel) by the National Honor Society and National Junior Society Inductions.   These are some impressive young men that deserve our attention and time. They have worked hard for this achievement.

At 1030 am they will be serving brunch in the Dining Hall - come and see what all the boys talk about....the great food that Rick Dana and his team will serve (small fee payable at the door).

12 pm back in the Chapel is our very important Parents Club Meeting - many topics that require vote from general membership will be addressed.  ALL families, parents, guardians are welcome to attend.  You do not have to be a "member".  All of you are already members and we need your input into several decisions being made and what better place to rest a bit after the fantastic brunch.

1 pm we head to the Gym for the Spring Music Concert - The band, pipes, drums and choir all perform for us.

Finally - the highlight of the weekend - the formal parade!  It is an incredibly proud moment when you see your cadet march onto the parade field in their parade dress uniforms with the band and bagpipes and the drums playing.   Many of us always get a little choked up watching this group of young men who have practiced and practiced until they are perfect in the execution of their movements.  No matter how many parades I have seen - I always look forward to them and they remind me what a special school this is.   The parade will take place rain or shine (if rain - the parade will take place in the Gym)

During the parade many of your cadets will be called out to receive their latest promotions, awards and other recognition.    All Seniors who have participated in athletics will be called upon and recognized with their parents/families.    We should all be there to cheer and applaud and share in these accomplishments.

Permitted Pass times (Check out / in with your RFO):

Friday:      Depart 5:45 pm following Field of Flags ceremony return Saturday by 9:00 am
Saturday:  Afternoon permits 12-3:30 (unless sports/volunteer for Excalibur) and at the
conclusion of Excalibur return by Sunday 8:00 am
