Last week the cadets received an advanced notice regarding Mid Winter Ball and here is a short announcement that has been posted to ParentsWeb. Additionally Lynette Ahlgren sent out an email today with more specific information on the Mid Winter Ball. Please encourage your cadet to participate. It is a great weekend/evening and afterward cadets always (albeit reluctantly) admit that it was a nice event and they are glad they went. The school is working very hard to introduce cadets to girls in neighboring schools, communities, clubs etc that the boys can ask to the ball. There will be various mixers and events between now and midwinter for the boys to meet prospective dates. Additionally, the committee has lots of new ideas and activities they are trying for the first time this year to make it fun and memorable. Please take a minute and talk to your cadet, encourage them to join in - sometimes that's all it takes Mom or Dad encouraging them. Last year my cadet didn't want to go because he thought it was too expensive....then I compared what going to prom here at our local high school would cost and quickly realized what a fantastic bargain this is and so much more impressive. He went with a friend from our home high school and they still talk about it.
Even though the boys may not have a date right now they can still sign up and then continue to find a date in the coming weeks/months. Know a family friend, girls back home that might want to participate.... put the word out. Or think about your cadets' girlfriends friends...yes a little bit of match making will help make it a memorable evening.
